Five Years: A Hearth Story

Five Years: A Hearth Story

Parenting is full of firsts: The first laugh. The first step. The first time your child walks into school with a backpack bigger than they are.

Hearth started with a first, too. Five years ago, three moms set out to create something that didn’t exist yet — a family operating system designed to lighten the mental load and make day-to-day life more manageable for parents and kids alike.

They weren’t just building a company. They were building the tool they wished they had in their own homes.

The Journey of Firsts

Since 2020, Hearth has grown step by step — just like the families it supports.

2020 — Conception

Three moms sketched a vision for what a family operating system could do. They built the first prototype in their living rooms, laid it out on whiteboards, and asked, “What if this could actually help real families?”

2021 — Baby’s First Steps

After thousands of hours of research, and interviews with parents and experts alike, the first Hearth Display launched. It sold out in under an hour. We may have been small, but this milestone proved we were walking in the right direction.

2022 — The Terrific Twos

The toddler years are full of discovery — and our second year was all about invention. We introduced our Routines feature: a first-to-market innovation that became the most loved (and most used) feature of Hearth.

2023 — First Big Achievement

Every child has that moment when they bring home their first gold star. For us, that was being named one of TIME’s Best Inventions. It wasn’t just recognition — it was a sign that what we were building mattered. That Hearth wasn’t just another tool, but something reshaping how families move through daily life.

2024 — The Growth Spurt

By age four, kids start to develop independence — they ask more questions, take more initiative, and show glimpses of who they’re becoming. In our fourth year, Hearth grew 400%. We expanded features, deepened community support, and continued to innovate.

2025 — Five Years In

By five, kids begin to surprise you with how capable they are. This year, Hearth earned its first patent and grew to 32,800 families (and counting), with 160+ features, 23 million routines completed, and 4.78 million to-dos checked off.

What It Took to Get Here

Behind those milestones is a story that looks a lot like parenting: exhausting, relentless, and full of love. 40+ investor pitches in a single week, 300+ rejections. 3 speaking events in 24 hours (including a TED Talk). 200 ounces pumped at a team offsite. Hearth wasn’t built in boardrooms — it was built in the margins of nap schedules, investor meetings, and daily life.

What We've Learned

Families thrive with clarity and consistency

When kids can see their day laid out clearly, they’re not just more likely to follow through — they start to take ownership. A checklist becomes a habit. A routine becomes a rhythm. And over time, those small steps turns into confidence that lasts.

Kids want to participate

Designing for “little hands” was a guiding principle from day one. From screen size to visuals, every design started with a question: Can a child use this? The answer matters. With the right tools, kids don’t just complete tasks—they build independence.

Connection matters as much as logistics

We started Hearth to solve chaos. Over time, we discovered the deeper purpose: helping families feel seen and loved. From Today’s Feelings to shared routines, Hearth isn’t just about logistics — it’s about connection.

What’s Next

Five years in, our story is still being written. Whether you’ve been with us since day one or just unboxed your Display last week, we’re grateful to be part of your family’s journey.

We remain steadfast in our mission to make family life a little less chaotic and a lot more connected. Here’s to shaping the future of family life — together.
